Family Resources

Good afternoon, Milford School District!

This week is National Hunger and Homelessness Week.  It would be remised if I was not able to bring attention to a population that we encounter in our jobs, lives, and/or our communities.  As many of you know, homelessness is defined as a lack of fixed, regular, and adequate housing resulting from a variety of reasons, and the McKinney Vento Act provides families the opportunity to protect their child’s educational placement. Many of our students experience homelessness and deal with multiple challenges daily, whether it be lack of food access, mental health challenges, and/or a parent who lacks finances to provide for the family.  While it is imperative that we identify families, having a toolkit of resources is always helpful.

WE ARE MILFORD!

Many Thanks,

Miss Ashley Norman, Homeless & Foster Care Liaison
